after a long flight, we finally landed in melbourne early in the morning. the weather was extremely good for this time of the year. usually it was quite hot (but dry) around xmas and new year's time. in some years, it was made worse by bush fires. but now it is around 20 degrees during the day time, with some cool breeze. the air is crystal clear. the drought seems to have subsided as mama's garden turns green, and many plants are flowering.
the next day, we went to lygon street in carlton, an italian precinct famous for its endless italian restaurants, to relax under the sun with a hot latte and a piece of tiramisu. the coffee tasted especially good, in particular comparing to coffee in europe which is twice as expensive and half as good. the streets were quiet as most humans are taking holidays (even at its busiest time, it feels much more spacious as comparing to europe), but still felt lively as they perfectly dissolved into the nature. aussies are casual and genuinely friendly as usual. melbourne at its best.

Hi Feddie, Melbourne sounds very nice. My owner visited there before I was born so I missed out:( I like Tiramisu too - it is very yummy for bears!
ReplyDeletethat sounds very nice, feddie. i hope that you enjoyed your latte. maybe you should drink twice as many since they are half price. i don't know how far you are from the sydney place where they show those pretty fireworks on new years, but if you are close and have the chance to take a photo, i would love to see it :) safe and delicious travels to you and the gang!
ReplyDeletemr bear and harry. melbourne is a very european city but more relaxing and spacious. we have very famous italian and greek communities. if you come, i must take you to try the tiramisu on lygon st. there is also a huge dessert shop. every visitor says it is the best. we also have excellent asian food.
ReplyDeleteharry, melbourne is one hour's flight from sydney. we are competitors :) but sydney's new year fireworks is the best. i have posted a link on the forum "happy new year" of last year's sydney fireworks. it was great.
